Why Solidus
The name is no accident. It has to do with what I want this app to be.
The coin
The solidus (Latin for “solid”) was a gold coin created by Emperor Constantine I the Great, replacing the old aureus. Its great merit was holding a stable value for more than 500 years, which made it the indispensable coin for trading and for saving. Gold has always been tied to prosperity and to storing value.

When the Western Roman Empire collapsed, the solidus kept circulating: it was one of the few things left standing from that classical age of prosperity and wealth, its last vestige.
A word in all our languages
Solidus gave us solid (firm, rigid) and also the words for pay: sueldo in Spanish, soldo in Italian and Portuguese, sou in French. These coins paid those who worked or served, and the English soldier comes from the same root: the one who draws a wage. Few coins have left a word so deeply rooted in our languages.
What I am aiming for
For all these reasons I believe Solidus is the best name this app could have. My mission is to give you a tool to find which are your solidus among all your investments: the ones that hold their value and help you prosper. And, in the same way, to let you see clearly and simply which “coins” have not worked as you expected, so you can get rid of them and solidify your portfolio.
We live in times of reckless spending, inflation and instability, and it seems that more than ever we need a solidus. I hope this app helps you find yours.
Who is behind it
Solidus has been developed and designed by a computer engineer who analyses sales data for a multinational. What I like most is having control of every number and presenting information as clearly as possible, which is what I do every day at work. That is, in essence, what I want this app to be: a tool that meets the standards of those who are most demanding with their data.
